Hello fellow gardeners!
Spring is upon us, and this means it's time to start prepping our beds for growing at The Drive Temporary Community Garden.
Our official Garden Opening is scheduled for Sunday, March 29th, from 1 PM to 3 PM.
For the Opening, the lovely folks from Figaro's Garden will be selling seeds and starts at cost, and answering your questions about spring planting, so you can get growing right away.
We will also be providing organic compost for you to add to your beds. The compost won't last forever, so be sure to come out!
It's still a little early to plant most flowers and vegetables, but you can get a head start by tilling your soil, mixing in or removing the straw, and adding whatever additional fertilizers, worms or soil supplements you like. If you're looking for a good local garden shop, Figaro's Garden (at 1896 Victoria Drive) offers a 20% discount to all community gardeners on everything in their store except seeds.
The opening is also an opportunity for you to get your cheques to me if you have requested to pay your 2015 Garden Fees this way.
As a reminder, to secure your place in the garden, fees and agreements are due before the first day of spring (March 21st) –– for new and returning gardeners.

*** your Gardener Fee is $15 per bed, for all of 2015 ***
With the last frost date set for the end of March, we don't want to risk freeze damage by turning on the water too soon. We will be setting up the hoses and turning on the water on the day of the Garden Opening: March 29th.
